Keep Levelland Beautiful celebrates Keep Levelland Beautiful/Earth/Arbor Day Apr. 22-27

Keep Levelland Beautiful had Earth/Arbor Day programs throughout the week of April 22. Cristal Isaacks read the book, HoneyBee which is about the cycle of life and the habitat in which honeybees live, to first graders at Levelland ISD Kelly Hancock and Keep Levelland Beautiful volunteers read the HoneyBee book to Levelland Christian Homeschool students and at the Hockley County Library Storytime. All groups made seed bombs for bees and other pollinators’ food to take home and plant. Keep Levelland Beautiful celebrates Keep Levelland Beautiful/Earth/Arbor Day Apr. 22-27 The City of Levelland Parks Department and Keep Levelland Beautiful planted a tree at Country Club Park to raise awareness of trees and the key role that they have in our environment. Its purpose is to encourage local people to plant trees. Trees are an invaluable natural resource. They beautify our neighborhoods, provide habitat for wildlife and even help to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. The Chamber of Commerce Marigolds organization planted marigold flowers at the Chamber of Commerce. These cheerful flowers will bring beautiful colors and attract butterflies, bees and other beneficial insects along with beautifying Levelland. Earth Day is held each year on April 22 to help protect the planet from things like pollution and deforestation. The organization encourages taking part in activities like picking up litter and planting trees to make the world a happier, healthier place to live. Arbor Day, which translates to “tree” day from the Latin origin of the word arbor is a holiday that celebrates the planning, upkeep and preservation of trees. Arbor Day is celebrated in all fifty states and is observed on the last Friday in April.
